Best Candidates
Dental crowns may be needed in many cases. Dental crowns may be needed to prevent a tooth from breaking when it is weakened by decay or to hold together a cracked tooth. Dental crowns may also be needed to treat a tooth that is worn down or loose. Crowns can also serve as support when a dental cavity has become too big for a regular filling, as part of a dental bridge, and to mask teeth that are misshapen or discolored. Our crowns are custom made with high-quality materials and set using advanced technology to make sure you have a beautiful result.
What to Expect
During your consultation, your team will get digital x-rays and impressions of your mouth that help us design your custom restoration. A temporary cap will be put on to cover your tooth as the dental lab makes your custom crown. When your restoration is ready, you will need to make another appointment. After relaxing in a comfortable treatment chair, you'll be given a pair of stylish MINT sunglasses and Beats headphones to help keep you comfortable. First, the treatment area will be anesthetized with numbing cream. Stronger sedation methods are available if you have trouble relaxing due to anxiety or dental fears. When you're comfortable, your dentist will prep your teeth by eliminating any decay and, if needed, filing down the tooth. Then, the restoration will be attached to the implanted post or cemented to your natural tooth. Once your crown is set in place, your dentist may adjust the fit, so it feels comfortable and matches your natural teeth.
Treatment Aftercare
If only local anesthesia is used, you will be able to leave our office as soon as your restoration is set to resume your daily activities. Your team will demonstrate how to care for your crown, including what food you shouldn't eat and how to properly clean it. We strongly suggest patients come back for a follow-up visit and get their dental bite assessed once the crown has settled in place to make sure their alignment is comfortable. A small misalignment with your bite is expected since of anesthesia and numbness, but we are happy to make adjustments. During your exams and cleanings at our office, your dentist will check your restoration and make sure it feels comfortable. Your dentist will talk to you when your crown should be replaced or repaired; however, with good care, a restoration can last for a long time. If you have any concerns about your crown (e.g., it feels loose or get knocked out), contact us. Don't attempt to put it back in or repair it because this may cause a bad fit or infection.
The MINT Commitment
Depending on your dental insurance coverage, a portion of your costs might be paid for. Once we have contacted your insurance, we can calculate your remaining bill. In your consultation, your dentist will help you select the best treatment plan for your crown to fit your needs and budget. Your dentist will also discuss the payment methods we accept, including the MINT discount plan, so you can more easily afford your treatment. Our team at MINT dentistry is dedicated to giving all our patients a healthy, attractive smile. Our custom crowns and restorations are crafted from high-quality materials available to the dental industry.
